They are the heart and soul of a team, the brains behind resounding victories, the last-second wizards who change the tide and offer joy to their fans while bringing sadness to the opposing squad. Coaches are unquestionably important in American football.

10. Bill Parcells

Bill Parcells, dubbed "Big Tuna," is one of the most illustrious coaches in NFL history. He has resurrected four bottom-of-the-table teams with shattered aspirations of winning at the highest level of American football, guiding them down pathways of victory and glory.
His most amazing feat was transforming the underdog New York Giants into Super Bowl champions. He was named NFL Coach of the Year on two occasions.
9. Chuck Noll

Late Noll is one of the few coaches in NFL history to have worked for one team for more than 20 years. As the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he has guided the team from its inception through four Super Bowl victories.
He was also noted for providing African Americans with opportunities in the game, producing the first black quarterback. Chuck Noll was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Chuck Noll is unquestionably one of the finest NFL coaches of all time.
8. Tom Landry

He is the first and longest-serving coach of the Dallas Cowboys, achieving and setting the most amazing record ever in the NFL by securing the record of 20 straight winning seasons between 1966 and 1985. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993 after winning two Super Bowls.
7. Giorgio Halas

He is known as "Papa Bear" and is the owner of the Chicago Bears. He is one of the co-founders of the National Football League. He has won eight NFL championships and has twice been voted NFL Coach of the Year. In 1963, he was one of the top 17 inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
6. Joe Gibbs

Joe Gibbs' accomplishments include three Super Bowl victories with three different quarterbacks. Such a feat has never been duplicated in NFL history, making it one of the greatest managerial accomplishments in the league's history.
During his management career, he was the sole manager of the Washington Redskins, leading them to eight postseason appearances and three Super Bowl titles.
5. Paul Brown

He was the founding manager of two franchises that he owned in part (the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals). He has won seven league titles in his 25-year coaching tenure.
He's also the originator of many tactical games that he invented in the sport and have since been applied. Following his passing, the Bengals renamed their stadium "Paul Brown Stadium."

In his 9-year career, he has 102 victories and three Super Bowl titles. Bill Walsh is a two-time NFL Coach of the Year and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 1993.
